Inter-House secondary football competition

By Francesco Masetti-Placci

Dear Parents and friends,

We continue to work to expand our initiatives. Hereafter the news and notices about last week’s activities, while we prepare new communications.

Inter-House Secondary Football Competition. Congratulations to Qin!

Last 8th March, an intense Inter-House Secondary Football Competition took place. The fighting spirit was very high, played by with mixed teams of boys and girls from Years 7 – 13. All teams were evenly matched, and which led to closely contested matches. However, there could only be one winner. Hereafter the overall scores:

HOUSE WINS DRAWS LOSS GOALS FOR GOALS AGAINST GOAL DIFFERENCE POINTS POSITION
QIN 2 1 0 6 1 5 7 1
HAN 2 1 0 3 1 2 7 2
SONG 0 1 0 3 6 4 1 3
TANG 0 1 0 3 7 4 1 4

Han were the best supported team and earned an additional 10 points for their team spirit. The Player of the Tournament nomination goes to Taeheon for leading his team to victory by example, defending and attacking. Overall, it was an excellent demonstration of the group and sporting skills of our Secondary students.

The next Secondary sporting inter-house activity will be the Inter-house basketball and table tennis competitions on March 31st.

MYP / DP House Gaming Tournament. Our first MYP / DP House Gaming Tournament has been going on at lunchtimes this week. The students have really enjoyed playing and watching games that require physical movements using the X-Box 360 Kinect system. The “Grease” dancing game was particularly entertaining to watch, as students had to follow the dance motions of characters in the game. “Fruit Ninja” showed the martial arts skills of students as they made movements to chop fruit. The Gaming Tournament will finish up with FIFA Football. The winners of each game will earn 30 House points each and the overall winning House will be awarded 50 House points.

Year 10 English Class Production. Our Year 10 English class produced an excellent video as part of their activities. This has been presented to all students and now is available on also YouTube – see hereafter the link: (https://youtu.be/uHV-M-KHqxg).

MYP Personal Project Exhibition. The Year 11 Personal Project is the culminating experience of the IB MYP, and is undertaken by every MYP student in the world. It reflects everything that we hope to have taught during the five years of the MYP.

A reminder that on Friday 24th March at 1.45pm we will have the Personal Project Exhibition, to which parents, family and friends are invited!
