Hanova 2018-19 New Semester is Coming up!

By Mr Robert Muntzer

Dear Parents and friends

New Teaching Staff Arrivals. We are sure that students and parents in our Hanova community will be happy to learn that all our new teaching staff for 2018-19 have safely arrived and are currently settling into Xi’an.

As indicated below, students and parents will be able to meet their new teachers at the ‘Open Day’ sessions next Friday, 10th August.

Open Day Sessions for Parents and New Students – 2018-19.This year we are planning to host two ‘Open day’ sessions for parents and new students at Hanova for 2018-19 on Friday, 10th August.

The first ‘Open Day’ will be for Primary School parents and new students; this will be in the School Auditorium from 9.00am to 10.15am.

The second ‘Open Day’ will be for students in Years 7 to 12; also in the Auditorium, starting at 10.30am to 12.00am.

For both events, we are reverting to how these sessions were previously planned. Both events will feature a welcome from the Principal and the Heads of Primary and Secondary respectively.

There will be subsequent information sessions and fun activities to introduce elements of both Primary and Secondary schools. Topics such as assessment practices, outlines of key school policies, parent access to Managebac, school routines, timetables, calendars etc will be outlined.

In addition to this, fun activities and demonstrations will be arranged by both school staff and our senior students.

As part of our renewed commitment to involving our parental community, we are extending our invitation to any existing parents who may wish to attend.

Please confirm your attendance by contacting our Admissions Team, Ms. Jessica Wang, (English and Chinese) at jessica.wang@his-xian.com or in Korean with fiona.zhang@his-xian.com

We look forward to an exciting and informative start to the new school year.

IB Diploma Results – May 2018. We are very happy to annunce that our second IB Diploma graduates did very well in the May 2018 examinations.

We achieved a 100% pass-rate of successful Diploma awards for all our students.

There was also a significant increase in the number of ‘bonus’ Diploma points awarded for Extended Essays, including two ‘Excellent’ awards and two ‘very good’ awards.

Once again, the school points average was five points above the global schools’ average. The Hanova students achieved an average of 34.5 points – above the global average of 30 points.

We are happy to announce that all our graduating students have been admitted into the universities of their choice again this year.

Welcome from the Head of Secondary School. I would like to welcome all the students and their families to the Secondary School at Hanova International School. The school again had very good results in the Diploma Program and, with nearly all the staff returning, the Secondary School has a very settled look.

I am excited to be commencing as Head of Secondary this year. I have had a long history of management in secondary schools and I look forward to adding my skills to improve the standard of education at Hanova.

One of my immediate challenges is too ready the school for its upcoming 5 Year Review of the IB Diploma programme. This is a huge job and requires the staff to do a large amount of organisation.  I thank them in advance for their commitment.

When parents are in the school I welcome them to come and say hello and discuss any concerns or thoughts you may have regarding the Secondary School.

Brian O’Connell

Head of Secondary School

Thanks again for your continuing support.

Best Regards,

Robert C. Muntzer

Principal
