MYP Personal Project Showcase. Personal Project, one of the culminating experiences of the IB MYP, gives Hanova’s Y11 students the opportunity to showcase their research and creativity in a particular passion or special interest that highlights their learning in the MYP.
On March 7, our Y11 students indeed showcased incredible projects, ranging from the science and mechanics of arm wrestling to protecting animals to understanding the impact of air pollution and more.
We’re thankful to all the parents who joined to witness the impressive exhibits, as well as our young learners and their teachers from the PYP. Congratulations to Hanova Year 11 students, and please enjoy some of the great pictures from the exhibition!

Year 6 Students Shine in Their Light and Sound Presentations - written by Mr Cristian Felice. Year 6 students at Hanova recently completed an exciting inquiry project focused on the impact of light and sound in our world. The guiding question for the project was: How does light or sound impact or energise our world? Students began by creating their own research questions, diving into topics that piqued their curiosity, such as light behavior in different mediums and the effects of sound on materials.
A key element of the project was incorporating scientific concepts like refraction, amplitude, and frequency. Students designed experiments to demonstrate these concepts, such as testing how light bends through various materials and exploring sound wave travel through different substances.
The project culminated in group presentations, where students displayed their findings on posters. These posters were not only informative but also visually engaging, with clear diagrams and data that helped communicate complex scientific ideas. Attention was given to design aesthetics, ensuring that each poster was both educational and appealing.
The presentations allowed students to showcase their scientific knowledge and creativity, engaging their peers with informative and well-crafted displays. Their hard work and collaboration were evident as they shared their experiments and conclusions.
The Year 6 students proved that light and sound can come together to create fascinating results. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing what they will explore next in their learning journey!
WeForShe Student-Led ECA - written by Ms Alexandra Alvarez Beltran. The WeForShe student-led ECA will hold a fundraising bake sale on March 12, 2025, during break and lunch times, 10:20 - 11:00 & 13:00 - 13:30, on the 3rd floor of the Secondary School building. We highly encourage all parents to support this movement as the profit will be donated to the Ching Tien Women’s Foundation; the QR code to their website can be found below.
The Ching Tien Foundation for Women aims to provide scholarships for the next generation of women learners and leaders in Asia seeking to pursue their passions globally.
Items will be sold, including brownies, scones, cookies, and drinks! The approximate price range of each item varies from 3-7 RMB; prices may be subject to being higher or lower because some items will be homemade by our ECA members and are of limited quantity. The members of the WeForShe ECA have generously put in their time to plan and prepare for this event to raise awareness about the educational barriers some women face in Asia. Parents can support the cause by giving their children adequate money to purchase some items! Teachers and staff are welcome to buy and further show interest in the Foundation.
Additionally, the Student Shop will be closed that day, courtesy of bringing our attention to supporting this beneficial cause.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the CAS coordinator, Mrs Alexandra Alvarez Beltran.
