Hanova PYP Spelling Bee. We are excited to announce the first round of our Spelling Bee will take place on Friday, 19 September. This round will be a written test, where students will have the chance to show how well they can “bee” with words!
For our Nursery and Reception students, the focus will be on building vocabulary. They will be asked to identify objects and say the word, helping them grow their language skills in a fun, confidence-building way.
A little practice each day will make spelling feel less like a “sting” and more like a “sweet success.”
We can’t wait to see who will spell their way into the next round—let’s get buzzing with words!
Year 11 Mathematicians Rise to the Challenge - by Mr Greg Chmielinski. This year, our High-Level Year 11 Mathematics class is focusing on stretching talented students with challenging questions and thought-provoking tasks. As part of this, each student will have the opportunity to prepare and teach a challenging mathematical topic to their peers.
We began this initiative with John, who delivered an excellent lesson on binomial expansion. He explained the concept clearly and showed the class how to use the nCr button on the calculator, apply Pascal’s triangle effectively, and find coefficients in a simple and efficient way.
The whole class was highly engaged throughout the lesson, and John’s teaching made a complex topic much more approachable. As you can see from the pictures below, everyone enjoyed both the challenge and the interactive approach.
Congratulations to John on an outstanding effort and a very successful first student-led lesson of the year!
