We are excited to announce the launch of this academic year’s University and Career Counseling (UCC) program for Year 11–13 students. Sessions are now running every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch (13:00–13:30) in SS307, and they provide students with valuable opportunities to explore higher education pathways and prepare for their future beyond Hanova. This week, we began with two foundation sessions: Personal Statement Writing 101 (China, Singapore, U.K., etc.) and Essay Writing 101 (U.S.) .
Over the course of the school year, the UCC program will cover a wide range of topics tailored to meet the needs of students. Areas of focus will include global higher education systems in countries such as Australia, Canada, China, Singapore, South Korea, the U.K. and the U.S.; university application preparation; external testing requirements; and the development of essential skills such as personal statement writing. Each session is designed to equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary to make confident, well-informed decisions about their academic and career journeys.
The UCC program at Hanova is an excellent way to gain clarity about the application process, understand international differences in university admissions, and strengthen key writing skills that will be critical for success in personal statements and essays. Session topics will be posted a week in advance on both ManageBac and Unifrog, allowing students to select those most relevant to their goals.
We look forward to supporting our students as they take these important steps toward their futures!
Kicking Off CAS - written by Mrs Alexandra Alvarez Beltran. A new academic year brings new opportunities for Hanova’s DP students to acquire knowledge and skills beyond their subjects, as well as to balance their academic responsibilities with their hobbies.
Volunteering at the Xi’an Korean School. Last Saturday, five Hanova students embarked on their first journey volunteering at the Xi’an Korean School. This community-based service provides our students with a unique learning experience.
Over the course of this CAS experience, they will support Mr. Lee, the Principal, and his team in various academic and administrative tasks, including assisting kindergarten teachers during class, handling basic administrative duties, supporting student drop-off and pick-up on school buses, distributing materials and snacks, and performing general support duties for the school.
DP students Abylaikhan Bakytsultan, Sumin (Victoria) Park, and Miranda Fernández from Year 12, and Ji Ho (Leo) Park and Hyeonseok (Johnny) Seo from Year 13, thoroughly enjoyed their first experience at the school and will continue to support the Korean community with responsibility and commitment every Saturday, providing ongoing support until the middle of December. This consistent support will surely make a significant impact on the Xi’an Korean School!
Student-Led ECAs. DP1 students also recently began implementing other CAS projects as leaders of ECAs at school after a careful two-week planning process. All DP1 students are leading ECAs related to various fields, including arts, sciences, and sports. We are proud to see how they are facing new challenges and working on their planning, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills!
