Hanova’s First-Ever Pep Rally! - written by Ms Lindsey Burrows. Friday, October 24 marked a milestone in Hanova history — our very first whole-school Pep Rally! The air buzzed with excitement as students, staff, and parents filled the gym dressed in Hanova dark green and Hawks jerseys to celebrate unity, school pride, and the spirit of competition.
In the week leading up to the event, students took part in the Hanova Spirit Bracelet Challenge, earning colorful beads in daily Rock–Paper–Scissors battles. Each day, Hanova was filled with laughter, friendly rivalry, and bracelets proudly showing each student’s school spirit.
Leading up to the Pep Rally, students also had the opportunity to submit ideas for our Hawk’s name and purchase Hanova merchandise, including clappers, flags, and other spirit gear, to cheer on their classmates and show their Hawks pride. The gym came alive with noise and color as students waved their flags, clapped, and cheered.
During the Pep Rally, Season 1 student-athletes were recognized and celebrated. Coaches shared inspiring words, highlighting teamwork, sportsmanship, and the growth of each team. They also previewed upcoming matches and tournaments, building excitement for the end of Season 1 and the soon-coming Season 2.
The event included a dynamic skit and a fun, high-energy relay of teams comprising students from all year groups across the school. There were also Hanova chants led by Primary House Captains and Year 1 cheerleaders, as well as the reveal of the Primary Hanova Hawk’s name: Golden! (Secondary’s Hawk name coming soon…)
It was an unforgettable celebration — one that captured the true meaning of what it means to be a Hanova Hawk.
Building Skills and Unity: U19 Boys’ Basketball Team Mentors U14 Squad - written by Mr Cristian & Ms Lindsay Meltzer. In an inspiring show of teamwork and leadership, the U19 Boys’ Basketball team has recently joined the U14 Boys’ practices to help younger players develop their skills and confidence on the court. The collaboration aims to strengthen fundamental techniques, improve communication, and foster a supportive environment where both age groups can learn from one another.
This initiative has already made a positive impact — the younger players benefit from the experience and guidance of the older team, while the U19 boys gain valuable leadership experience by mentoring their peers.
Beyond basketball, the joint practices are creating a sense of camaraderie and school spirit, uniting students across age groups through shared passion and teamwork. It’s a win-win situation that embodies the values of mentorship, respect, and community that define Hanova’s athletic program.
