Hanova Excels at CISSMUN Shanghai - written by Ms Jane Lei. From January 16th to 18th, 10 of our MYP Year 10-11 students participated in the highly regarded Concordia International School Shanghai Model UN conference (CISSMUN). This premier event attracts top young minds from across Asia and beyond, with nearly 800 delegates representing 47 schools from China, Japan, Tunisia, Spain, and more.
After intense preparation, our delegates excelled. We are especially proud that for five of our Year 10 students, this was their very first MUN experience. A particular highlight was Year 11’s Song Ziyi (Martin), who was appointed Deputy President of the World Health Assembly. He skillfully led three days of debate and drafted the committee's report on international cooperation for vaccine-preventable diseases.
The true success, however, was visible in every student’s growth. We witnessed first-timers confidently delivering speeches and saw our veterans mentor younger teammates. And, even beyond formal debate, Gong Tsz Luk (Cris) was recognized in the conference magazine as one of the most fashionable delegates!
The trip also provided rich cultural exchange. Students explored Shanghai, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, and shared new foods and experiences, forging friendships and memories. This journey showcased our students' poise, critical thinking, and diplomatic spirit, proving they are ready to engage with the world's challenges.
We congratulate the entire delegation on representing Hanova with such distinction.
