HANMUN III - written by Y13 Lalita Kusuma and Y12 Miranda Fernandez. MUN is a simulation of the United Nations, aiming to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills when addressing global issues. The Hanova Model United Nations (HANMUN) Organizing team is proud to announce that HANMUN III successfully took place from Friday to Saturday, January 30-31, 2026! We had students from XIS participate in our fruitful discussions in the World Health Organization (WHO), where we spoke about the risk of food additives, and UN Water, where we addressed water loss during transport and ensuring water security in desert climates. A variety of Hanovians bravely took the stand and represented their countries of delegation.
After making more than 215 speeches, 23 amendments, and passing 2 resolutions, the HANMUN Secretariat has officially decided to pass the torch to a new generation of students, this marks an exciting transition for one of our school's most varied experiences. Martin Song (Year 11) was formally appointed as our next Secretary General, with Jason Liu (Year 12) also assuming the role of Deputy Secretary General. This leadership handover marks a significant milestone for HANMUN, which continues to grow as time progresses.
This ceremony also included a heartfelt recognition of the teachers who have helped us with HANMUN throughout the year. Their dedication to helping the students to have seamless and engaging MUN have been key to the program's success, and their guidance extends beyond just the classroom. So thank you, Ms. Leah, Ms. Soo, Ms. Jane, Ms. Sandra, and so many more who donate their time to this cause.
Our leadership team has expressed enthusiasm in planning for more upcoming conferences. Our goals throughout the year is to encourage development in students’ interpersonal skills that prepare them for higher degrees of education, to have fun while debating, and also to become much more educated on current global issues.
