Year 10 Humanities Exhibition - written by Mr Shaun Guffey. Throughout the year, our Year 10 Humanities students have been exploring the rise and fall of empires from around the world. Using the research and critical-thinking skills they have developed in class, students investigated how empires grew, the innovations that contributed to their success, and the factors that eventually led to their decline.
This unit culminated in the Year 10 Humanities Exhibition, where students worked collaboratively to create engaging museum-style displays showcasing different historical empires. From the Roman Empire to the Han dynasty and the Maya civilization, students presented a wide range of civilizations from across the globe. Their displays included artifacts, models, and visual presentations designed to help visitors better understand the achievements and historical significance of each empire.
Students confidently explained their research, answered questions, and demonstrated a strong understanding of their topics with peers, parents, and Primary students who visited the exhibition.
The exhibition was a wonderful celebration of student learning, collaboration, and creativity. We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm our Year 10 students demonstrated throughout this project!
Theory of Knowledge Exhibition - written by Mr Brenton Mensforth. Last Friday Hanova’s Year 12 students held their annual Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, in which they each curated 3 objects on a theme, and presented them, with explanations, for an enthusiastic audience of fellow students, parents, and teachers. This year’s themes included “What makes a good explanation?”, “What role does imagination play in producing knowledge about the world?” and “Are some things unknowable?”
Students drew connections between abstract philosophical questions and a diverse range of real-world objects including violins, chemistry experiments, passports, and picture books. Their commentaries demonstrated not only a strong understanding of the course concepts, but also an impressive ability to reflect critically on how knowledge is constructed, justified, and challenged in different contexts. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to share their ideas with the wider school community and to celebrate the curiosity, creativity, and intellectual maturity they have developed thus far in the Diploma Programme.
From Process to Expression: PYP Art Exhibition - written by Mr Clark Li. Our PYP Art Exhibition was a joyful celebration of student creativity, inquiry, and expression. The exhibition, held last Wednesday along with Student-Led Conferences across the Primary, invited our school community to explore how students think, create, and communicate through visual art.
More than showing finished artworks, the exhibition highlighted the learning journey behind each piece. Students explored big ideas, experimented with materials and techniques, reflected on their creative choices, and expressed personal and cultural perspectives through their art.
Each artwork showed a process of questioning, exploring, and refining ideas, reminding us that art is not only about the final product, but also about the thinking and learning behind it.
We are incredibly proud of our young artists and thank all students, teachers, and families for making this exhibition such a meaningful celebration of learning through art.
