Hanova Carnival & Summer Jam 2026: A Day of Fun and Giving - written by Mr Greg Chmielinski.  On Saturday, 6 June 2026, the Hanova campus came alive with energy, laughter, and excitement as students, families, staff, and friends gathered for the annual Hanova Carnival and Summer Jam. The event once again showcased the vibrant spirit of our school community, creating a memorable day filled with entertainment, creativity, and meaningful connections.

Throughout the afternoon, families and friends enjoyed a wide variety of activities and attractions across the campus. The carnival grounds were buzzing with excitement as students, parents, and teachers tested their skills at carnival games, cooled off on the water slide, and lined up for the ever-popular Dunk Tank. The handicraft area offered opportunities for creativity, with students proudly displaying their artistic talents through hands-on activities, face painting, and Hanova-themed tattoos.

The vendor and yard sale area attracted visitors throughout the day, offering a variety of handmade items, pre-loved treasures, and delicious treats. The much-anticipated Lucky Draw added to the excitement, with a range of fantastic prizes generously donated by the Kazakhstan and Malaysian Consulates General in Xi’an, Hanova Parent Teacher Association (HPTA), and members of our wider community.

A highlight of the day was Summer Jam, where students took to the stage to share their musical talents, dance performances, and other creative acts. Their confidence, dedication, and enthusiasm were a wonderful reflection of the diverse talents within our school community, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Beyond the fun and festivities, Carnival continued Hanova’s tradition of giving back. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, participated, and contributed, the event successfully raised funds for Chunshan Education to support educational initiatives and help create opportunities for students beyond our campus.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the volunteers, parents, teachers, staff members, and students whose hard work made this event possible. Special thanks go to our Head of School, Mr. Luke, the Carnival Committee, the HPTA, and everyone who dedicated their time and effort behind the scenes. Their commitment and teamwork ensured that the day ran smoothly and provided an enjoyable experience for all.

As another successful school year draws to a close, Carnival and Summer Jam served as a wonderful reminder of the strength and generosity of the Hanova community. Thank you to everyone who joined us in making the day such a special occasion. We wish all our families a happy, safe, and relaxing summer break, and we look forward to creating more unforgettable memories together in the year ahead.

Stepping into Malaysia.  Last week a group of Hanova’s Year 7-9 students had the chance to cross cultures, literally, by participating in an educational exchange event at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi’an…a 3-minute walk from Hanova! The event included a presentation around the theme To Know Malaysia is to Love Malaysia, Q&A and a “quiz” about all-things Malaysia, and some delicious snacks. 

Importantly, the students had the unique opportunity to meet a real-life diplomat, Ms. Farah Rakesh, Consul General of the Consulate General of Malaysia, who warmly welcomed our students and teachers during this educational and cross-cultural exchange. We thank Ms. Rakesh and her team for the gracious hospitality and the chance for our students to experience a taste of Malaysia’s wonderfully diverse culture, history, and people.

Hanova Community Cup 2026.  June 6th, 2026 marked a day to remember at Hanova, as our annual Hanova Community Cup—immediately following our lively Carnival and Summer Jam—brought together parents, teachers-staff, and U19 and U14 student teams for an afternoon of football and unforgettable connection. Though it was raining by late afternoon, it did nothing to dampen the energy on the pitch or the warmth of our community spirit.

From the first kickoff to the final whistle, the tournament was filled with excitement. We showed great sportsmanship and even a few surprise moves on the field. The Hanova parents’ team won the tournament title with an impressive 7 points from their three games.

This year’s Community Cup was more than a football tournament. It was a reminder that when we come together as one Hanova family, there’s no weather and no challenge that can dim our passion and spirit. Congratulations again to our parent champions, and thank you to every player and supporter who made this day unforgettable!

HANMUN IV: A Successful End to the School Year.  In the final week of the school year, Hanova's Model United Nations (MUN) students hosted one last conference to cap off an exciting and productive year: HANMUN IV. The event welcomed delegates from two local schools, Maple Leaf International School and Xi'an Liangjiatan International School, bringing together students from across the city for a day of debate, diplomacy, and collaboration.

The conference began with an inspiring opening ceremony featuring a special guest speaker, Ms. Farah Rakesh, Consul General of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi'an. Ms. Rakesh shared valuable insights about international cooperation and diplomacy, encouraging delegates to engage thoughtfully with global challenges and to make the most of the opportunities offered by MUN. Her encouraging words set the stage for the following two days of intense debate, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Throughout the days of the conference, delegates represented countries from around the world, collaborating to address pressing international issues. Students demonstrated impressive research, public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills as they worked together to draft resolutions and find common ground on complex global challenges. With an atmosphere which was both professional and welcoming, experienced delegates sharpened their skills as newer participants gained the confidence to contribute their ideas. The conference also provided students from different schools a great opportunity to connect, exchange perspectives, and build friendships through shared interests in global affairs.

HANMUN IV was a fantastic student-led event for which students from years 10-12 came together to take responsibility for the event’s planning. From planning committee topics and preparing conference materials to organizing logistics, purchase ordering, and managing the schedule, Hanova's MUN team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the event to life. Months of preparation paid off as the conference ran smoothly and provided an engaging experience for all participants. We are left now looking forward to what HANMUN V will bring us next year!
