Upcoming University Visits in October

Dear Parents and friends

Upcoming University Visits - written by Ms Sharon Zhu, DP Coordinator.  We are excited to announce two upcoming university visits that will provide valuable insights into higher education opportunities to our students and families at Hanova. Please mark your calendars for the following dates:

  1. University of Toronto: Thursday, 19th October, at 15:10

The University of Toronto, renowned for its academic excellence and vibrant campus life. The admission officer from University of Toronto is visiting our school to share information about their programs and admission requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing their studies in Canada or exploring international options.

  1. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology: Tuesday, 24th October, at 11:00

The admission officer from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) which is a leading institution known for its innovation and cutting-edge research, will be visiting Hanova. They will offer valuable insights into various fields of study and discuss the unique opportunities available at HKUST.

Attending these university visits can be crucial in helping students make informed decisions about their future educational paths. It allows them to interact directly with admissions officers and gain firsthand knowledge about the institutions' offerings.

To ensure the most productive experience, we encourage students to come prepared with questions and engage actively during the presentations. Meanwhile, we also highly encourage our parents to attend the event as these university visits provide an excellent opportunity for students and parents to learn more about different universities, their programs, and the application process.

We look forward to welcoming admission officers from the University of Toronto and HKUST to our school. These visits are part of our commitment to supporting our students' journey towards higher education and providing them with information to make well-informed choices.

MYP & PYP students collaborate in Visual Arts - written by Ms Sanaz Sasannejad, PYP & MYP Visual Arts.  MYP & PYP students are working together on a big Visual Arts project aiming for an exhibition! MYP students (Years 7-9) began the project by running PYP classes (Years 1-4) and helping the little ones use their imagination, be spontaneous and use their pure vision around the fictitious characters of their choice: cartoons, films, movies or just a character of their choice.

The Visual Arts collaboration project is student centered and student taught and the students are all enjoying each other’s company so much. The final outcome of the project will be an exhibition of Soft Sculptures. Students will learn and practice skills such as drawings in bigger perspective, painting on canvas fabric, cutting and sewing, time management, collaboration and perseverance to build this large project!

We have now finished the stage in collaboration with the PYP drawings. MYP students are now making the drawings into a bigger form and starting the next stage!

House competition finale! - written by Mr Gary Wood, MYP Humanities.  The plastic bottle recycling house competition has come to an end this week and the response from students and parents has been fantastic. As you can see from the below picture, most days my classroom resembled a bottle recycling plant and I certainly got my steps in carrying the bottles to the storage boxes! I will update you all next week with the competition winners. Once again, thank you all for your wonderful contributions and for taking part in such a worthy activity.
