2018 Hanova Sports Day

By Francesco Masetti-Placci

Dear Parents and friends,

We just finished another week full of activities, with our main Sports Day event. Find hereafter the news and highlights of the week.

Sports Day 2018. This Friday our Inter-house Sports Day was a great success. In the end the weather was kind to us and all the children had fun.

Primary students had fun and friendly competitions split into Nursery / Primary, Lower Primary, Upper Primary. They were involved in individual races and team games, and the emphasis has been more on participation and having fun with sports and outdoor activities!

Secondary was a fast and furious day with students being fully committed in each event, both to crown individual athletes but also to foster a supportive spirit within each House. There were great shows of skill, strength and athleticism and most importantly sportsmanship; cheering each other on and helping each other. It was great to see!

The Secondary results (based on the points obtained throughout the day) were as follows:

Next week the full results will be published and photo galleries will be posted. For more information please contact our Athletic Director Mr. Lynn ( anthony.lynn@his-xian.com ).

Primary News. Year 6 classes have begun taking Action as part of their Exhibition which will be held on May 10th and 11th. Their fundraising efforts have been very successful and raised money for animal welfare organisations such as World Wildlife Fund and the Abandoned Dog’s Home. All the projects are progressing well, and more information on the exciting PYP Exhibition will come later.

Please remember to contact your homeroom teacher to book a conference time for the Student Led Conferences on Friday May 18th. On this day there will not be regular PYP classes, but it will be a wonderful Celebration of Learning!

Secondary News. We are pleased to present a selection of the artwork that has been produced by our Year 13 IB DP Visual Arts students. These pieces have been executed in a variety of media and styles and are on display in the school entry’s lobby for your viewing pleasure. Please come and look at the outstanding work of our students and enjoy the display.

All parents and friends are invited to the MYP Personal Project Exhibition on Friday 27th April in the Auditorium from 1.30pm to 2.00pm. Please come and see the amazing projects that our students did and hear from them about the process they followed.

The Personal Project is the culminating learning experience of the MYP, reflecting what students have learned throughout the programme. It will be particularly interesting to all MYP parents as well as to PYP parents who are considering continuing their children education with the MYP curriculum.

Please confirm your attendance with our MYP Administrator Mrs. Li ( lilian.li@his-xian.com ). We look forward to seeing you there.

Yours,

Francesco Masetti-Placci
