Hanova wins Secondary football match vs XHIS

By Mr Martin Hughes

Dear Parents and

Art Exhibition. Ms Cowper and Ms Muntzer have been busy mounting a lot of wonderful art work that the students have been producing throughout the school.  This is in preparation for the school’s Art Exhibition.  There will be an opening morning straight after the Dragon Boat Festival, at the end of the long weekend, when there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to be the first to see the art work displayed throughout the school.  Please put this in your diary if you would like to come – 9am on Tuesday, 3rd June.

Football match. Yesterday on Wednesday 21st May, we were delighted to host a football match against students from Xi’an Hi-Tech International School (XHIS).  These were students from Y10 and 11.  It was the first match we have been able to play against them since we opened.  Both teams played very well and showed great sportsmanship.  Hanova ran out winners by 4 goals to 1, maintaining their 3 goal advantage from the first half in a much closer second half.  We have been invited to a return match at XHIS on 12th June.

Applications to Hanova. We are currently processing applications for student places at Hanova for 2014-15.  Applications have come in from nationals from 10 different countries at the current time.  Those students still on our waiting list are being considered alongside new applicants.  We will send out place offers by the end of next week.

Staff. We welcome Michelle Xie as a new member of our office staff.  She will often be working as a Front Desk Receptionist.  Michelle graduated from Xi’an Fanyi University majoring in Business English.  She has worked in the hotel business as a trainee manager and studied English as a Second Language for two years at the City College in San Francisco.  We welcome her to Hanova.

ECAs. There are just two more weeks of ECAs remaining this year with the last ECA being on 5th June.

Reports. Teachers have already started on the long process of writing the final reports for this school year.  We are aiming to have them sent home on 13th June, giving parents time to review them and ask any questions that might arise.

Best regards,

Martin Hughes
