Hanova to host University Fair, 5th November

By Francesco Masetti-Placci

Dear Parents and friends,

Hereafter the great news related to this past week. We have fantastic results to report to our community and an impressive set of activities, just completed and soon to come. All this shows our effort and commitment to make Hanova an outstanding International School, for the benefit of our entire community.

NHSDLC Debate Conference.  During the weekend of November 5th & 6th, Hanova will host the first NHSDLC Debate Conference organized in Xi’an and Shaanxi province, an event part of a program organized all over China by the National High School Debate League of China (NHSDLC), involving 100+ students who consider English as their Second Language.

The National High School Debate League of China is the biggest foreign language debate league for high school students in China, arranged according to procedures and features of American debate. NHSDLC encourages debate in China, hoping that in the future it will become as popular as in America. In the United States, more than 100,000 students participate in interscholastic debate every year, an excellent platform to show students’ passion and versatility, and a chance for them to lay forth their own worldviews and understand the ideas of others. This is also well in line with Hanova’s education philosophy and with the IB Learner Profile.

This event complements the successful MUN (Model United Nations) activity already launched last year. Many schools from Xi’an and outside Xi’an will participate and it will be a fantastic opportunity for our community to show how great is our school and its students.

We are grateful to Mrs. Masetti ( nicoletta.masetti@his-xian.com ), our MUN Director, for the opportunity to host this prestigious event on our campus and to all teachers, members of staff and students volunteers who will provide their effort and time in support of this great event here.
