We are completing our second week of school in this new academic year. More students and teachers have joined us during this week, and we still expect the final few during next week.
We also continue to adjust the routines and the school operations. For any inquiry about the school logistics, contact Ms. Yang zena.yang@his-xian.com of our Marketing and Liaison team.
Primary News.Thank you to our Primary parents for attending the “PYP Meet the Teacher Afternoon” last Tuesday. It was great to see so many parents demonstrating their commitment to their child’s education. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents to visit our campus, meet the teachers in person and find out about the expectations and curriculum for this year. The partnership between teachers and parents to support children’s learning contributes to student success and is extremely important to us all. We value your continued support.
Secondary News. From this week Secondary students follow the regular academic timetable.
This week all MYP students have received a homework timetable, so that they will be able to manage their homework load. This timetable is designed to provide a coherent framework directly linked to what students encounter within their classes, and should be seen as an integral part of learning. Each student from Year 7 – 9 should have 30 minutes per subject per evening and a maximum of homework in 2 subjects per evening. In Year 10 and 11 students should have 45 minutes of homework per subject per evening and a maximum of homework in 2 subjects per evening. For more information on MYP and the MYP timetable, contact directly Mrs. Trull ( sandy.trull@his-xian,com ).
International Award. Not all learning happens in the classroom. Young people need experiences outside the classroom to become committed and responsible global citizens. Hanova will continue to offer the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh International Award during the 2017-2018 academic year.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is available to all 14-24 year olds and is the world’s leading youth achievement award. It equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. This award can count towards the Action and Service activities part of the IB curriculum, and universities see this as very valuable leadership experience.
Since its launch 60 years ago, the Award has inspired millions of young people to transform their lives through non-formal education outside the classroom. For more information please contact Ms. Hou ( amy.hou@his-xian,com ).
School Food Policy. Xi’an Hanova International School has policies in place related to Health and Safety – all putting the “safety first” concept as a priority. One of these policies illustrates the school position, services and procedures related to Food and Beverage on campus: this policy applies to all our students, staff, parents and visitors. A copy will be sent soon to all our families.
A form has recently been sent home to all parents, requiring signature, to highlight the importance of our Health and Safety policies. We remind that any food consumed on campus must follow the general guidelines of our Food and Beverage policy, for the safety of all students. For any inquiry, contact Ms. Yang zena.yang@his-xian.com of our Marketing and Liaison team
Thanks again for your continuing support.
Yours,
Francesco Masetti-Placci
