PYP Professional Development (PD). The PYP staff enjoyed an engaging professional development workshop on 16th & 17th April. The two days were filled with IB learning and engaging activities to inspire the way we teach students. The workshop was titled “Inquiry in Creative Spaces.” At Hanova, we deeply value the training of our teaching staff. Teachers and students alike are ‘lifelong learners.’
Day one began with a teacher field trip to the Silk Road Museum. The teachers were given creative ways to engage student learning in a different environment than the classroom. This on-site session proved to be a meaningful experience for the teachers. Once back at school, the teachers were given creative ideas for visible thinking strategies, grouping methods and numerous resources to utilize in teaching and learning. The two days ended with a meaningful reflection activity and an action plan to decide how these methods could be implemented in Hanova’s classrooms. All participants in the workshop were excited about the content and practical nature of the sessions.
MYP & DP Professional Development (PD). On Friday and Saturday, 16th & 17th April, all Secondary teachers participated in a two-day professional development in school led by the IB workshop leader Mr. Alan Jovern Lim. The workshop focused on the IB Diploma Programme’s core component - Theory of Knowledge (TOK).
Through these two days of intensive learning, our Secondary subject teachers were inspired by the knowledge and classroom activities that they could use to link Theory of Knowledge with the subjects they are teaching – both in Hanova’s Diploma Programme courses and in the Middle Years Programme courses. This will allow our secondary students to be immersed in a TOK environment that cultivates and shapes their ways of thinking and their ways of knowing in order to better prepare them for the competitive 21st century.
Year 13 IB Examinations. The M21 IB examination at Hanova is going to start from Monday 3rd May to 19th May. This is the time of year when all Year 13 IB Diploma students around the world are sitting in examinations to demonstrate what they have learned over the past two years. The final result of these exams will be released on Tuesday, 6th July. We wish our Year 13 students all the best on their examinations!
Year 12 University & Careers Counseling Meetings. Our Counseling team has started to meet with every Year 12 student individually to start their university preparation. Some students have already made up their minds about their university destinations and majors while some of them are still exploring the potential options. The purpose of our meetings with them is to offer professional guidance and support to our students in this process. We will share the meeting summary with their parents once we finish all the meetings, and parents are highly encouraged to contact us for any inquiries.
Year 13 University Acceptances. As our Year 13 students prepare to take their final IB examinations, we would like to congratulate them on their acceptances into well-known universities all around the world!
