We hope this finds you all well and that your children have had a restful, safe holiday. Following PLT this morning, I can now confirm the following.
As you can see from the photographs, construction on the new school campus is nearing completion. We are all very excited to see the extensive facilities that will certainly enrich our students’ learning experiences.
There have been – and will be – a number of meetings with the Board and the senior school management to assess our readiness to open the new campus.
It was felt that staff needed to be best prepared to teach, that students’ welfare and learning was paramount and that finishing the Primary and Secondary blocks as best as possible would better ensure health and safety of the whole learning community.
Therefore, it has been agreed that the school will now open to students and parents on Monday 23 August. There will be no loss of teaching and learning time for our students; we will make up those days during the course of the academic year. More details will follow.
The community will be happy to hear that – with the exception of two – all the new teaching staff we have recruited have arrived in Xi’an safely and are settling in. The school has expedited their immigration and visa procedures – so they are ready and keen to start teaching.
More of their introduction will follow later but we would like to share who they are with our community. Please welcome the following:
- Mr. Paul Robinson (Head of Whole School PE);
- Ms. Janet Danaher (Head of Faculty Group 1 Languages, MYP/DP English A);
- Mr. Javier Stalder (Head of Faculty Group 6 Arts, MYP Drama/Extra English);
- Dr. Tim Kim (MYP Korean A);
- Ms. Emma Tidmarsh (PYP Early Years Coordinator, PYP Year 2);
- Mr. Graeme Noble (PYP Year 2);
- Mrs. Melissa Day (PYP Nursery);
- Mr. Jonathan Knibloe (PYP Upper Years);
- Mr. Dusan Dordevic (PYP PE);
- Miss Elizabeth Cook (PYP Music).
Given the current situation with COVID-19, in order to ensure the welfare of our students, all our staff have had recent COVID tests and the majority have received double vaccinations.
You will recall an earlier School Office communication to parents regarding the requirements for children to return to school. We ask that all parents follow these instructions. Further information will be forwarded to you shortly; however, in the meantime, please contact Jessica Wang on Jessica.wang@his-xian.com
Best regards,
Robert Muntzer
