PYP “Mix-a-thon” House Competition - by Mr Jacob Charles and Mr Jonathan Rice. On Friday, 1st April, our PYP students came dressed in their pajamas to school! No, they didn’t oversleep and forget their school uniforms. They came dressed and ready for Hanova’s first ever PYP “Mix-a-thon” – a House Competition event that was created, advertised, coordinated and hosted by some of Year 4A and 4B’s reading groups.
Through the morning, each age group – starting with Early Years and ending with Years 5 and 6 – ran, jogged and walked their way around the PYP track for as many laps as they could finish before the clock ran out. The children were dressed in their House colors as they ran to earn House points for each lap completed. By the end of the event, the students were tired and happy – and the Year 4 hosts counted up the laps and announced the House winners!

MYP Parent-Teacher-Student Conference - by Ms Amy Hou, MYP Coordinator. On 13th April, MYP hosted the second Parent-Teacher-Student Conference. After receiving the interim report for the second term, parents were welcome to book a time with each subject teacher.
This is a great opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to sit together and talk about how to help students to improve their academic achievement.
Year 13 2/6 Report and Parents Conference - by Ms Sharon Zhu, DP Coordinator. The final report for Year 13 students in the IB Diploma Programme was issued on Friday, 25th March, and this is the last “full” report that contains grades to indicate students’ current academic position and comments from teachers, coordinators, homeroom teacher and counselor. The Y13 parents’ conference is going to be held on this coming Thursday, 14th April together with a DP Parents’ Information Session about the IB Exam and University Navigation. You will find the introduction in the following event list.
Y13 Study Leave - by Ms Sharon Zhu, DP Coordinator. The Y13 students are going to take Study Leave from Monday, 18th April to Friday, 29th April. During the Study Leave, all the Year 13 students are allowed to work from home, and to rest well to prepare for the final IB examination in May. However, all the Year 13 students are highly encouraged to come to school during these two weeks to do revision with teachers, to study together with their peers, and utilize the final two weeks before the examination wisely.
Hanova’s New Sports Mascot Revealed! - by Mr Paul Robinson, Director of Sport. As Hanova has moved into an exciting new era in a fantastic purpose-built campus, it was decided that it would be fitting to create a new mascot in order to create future legacies at Hanova.
We recently ran a student/staff vote as to what would become the new school mascot from 7 choices. The overwhelming winner of the vote was the Hawks, so our future sports teams will be the “Hanova Hawks” which we hope will be able to soar to new heights!
This is not to forget the legacy left from our “Hanova Heroes” past. The process of designing the new Hanova sporting logo will soon be underway and we look forward to the “Hawks” playing an important role in creating a positive sporting culture.
Sincerely,
Mr Robert Muntzer, School Principal
