The Hanova Heroes have been looking forward all school year to the Spring 2021 football season! The team began practicing in March and played their first game on 9th April at the Maple Leaf campus. The game against Maple Leaf was an exciting event. The game remained very close through the entire 60 minutes. Our Heroes played hard against a very physical team and recorded the majority of the game’s shots-on-goal. But in the end, they were not able to get the ball in the net! The final game score was 1-0 – a Maple Leaf win.

For their second game, Hanova’s team played a Home game against XLIS on 16th April. The team sported new 2021 uniforms for this match – and they arrived at our home field hungry for a win! And a win they received! The game stayed close in the first 20 minutes, but Hanova’s offense steadily continued to pressure the XLIS defense until Isaac Rice scored a goal late in the first half. And just as the final seconds of the half were running out, Isaiah Smith boosted the team to 2-0. The second half began with some strong offensive pushes by XLIS’s team who fought back to 2-1. But Elijah Smith and James Lee each returned the favor to put the Heroes up 3-1 and then 4-1 for most of the second half. Hanova’s team saw appearances on the field by every one of their players as the Heroes gained some valuable playing experience and a strong win!
