Primary Sports Day - Written by Mr Paul Robinson, Director of Sports. Thursday 27th April was the rearranged PYP Sports Day event. Throughout the day our upper primary children participated in range of track and field events such as 50/60m sprint (heats and finals), hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put/tennis ball throw and javelin. In addition, we also had tug o’war, basketball free throws and sack race events. This year we also had the early years children on the field participating in 30m sprint, football dribble, sack race, egg & spoon/bean bag balance race, hurdles and obstacle course events.
The weather was glorious with sunshine throughout and the smiles on the children’s faces throughout the day was fantastic to see. The level of competition has improved and a staggering 11 of the 14 existing new campus sports day records were broken. We were also thrilled to see so many parents being involved, setting up refreshments for the children, supporting all the children in the events and participating in teacher/parent sprint and/or tug o’war.
The day was incredibly special and showed how the school community can come together and create an atmosphere that was very memorable.
