Introducing Our New Indoor Recess Space! As we prepare for winter and rising air quality concerns, we are excited to announce the launch of our new indoor recess space at Hanova. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority, and this area will provide a secure and engaging environment where children can enjoy the benefits of play, even when outdoor conditions are less than ideal.
At Hanova, we believe that play is an essential component of a well-rounded education. Our new space is thoughtfully designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and physical activity. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including table tennis, badminton, football, and chess, all of which promote social interaction and critical thinking skills.
The indoor space will be available for use during school hours and under the supervision of our dedicated teachers, ensuring a safe and structured environment for all students.
We look forward to witnessing our students thrive in this exciting new space, exploring their interests and building connections with their peers.
MYP/DP PTSCs & Parent Info Sessions. Teamwork between families and the school works best when there’s close communication and follow-up on the continuous academic growth of our students. Next Wednesday, October 23rd, we will hold Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences (PTSCs), a shared and collaborative platform for conversation around student progress here at the time of Interim Reports. We ask that at least one parent/guardian attend these important conferences to best support students and teachers. If you need to reschedule to a different day, please reach out to teachers directly.

More from Ms. Sharon Zhu, DP Coordinator
We are excited to invite you to next week’s PTSCs and MYP/DP parent Information sessions! I’m excited to share more about the DP info session entitled, "Growth Beyond the Classroom," where we will highlight the comprehensive guidance and support your children receive here at Hanova beyond traditional academics.
Our presenters will explore three key areas: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and international academic competitions. Through these, you will gain insights into how we foster critical thinking, encourage extracurricular engagement, and provide opportunities for international academic competitions.
TOK plays a vital role in helping students develop essential critical thinking skills, preparing them for the complexities of the modern world. CAS offers students a structured way to engage in creative projects, physical activities, and community service, enriching their personal growth and leadership skills. In addition, we will share how Hanova supports participation in prestigious international academic competitions, celebrating our students’ achievements and encouraging their intellectual curiosity.
This session is a great opportunity for you to understand how we go beyond the classroom to ensure your children thrive in all areas of their development. We look forward to seeing you there!
U14 Girls Basketball Team Achieves Victory in First Away Game - written by Mr Jason Cui.
Last Saturday, our U14 girls basketball team headed to DEXA for their first away game. Facing new rivals, our young hawks had a great warm-up. Hanova scored the first basket and we led 17-5 by halftime.
In the second half, our players had some impressive moments both offensively and defensively. We ended the game with a score of 31-7. It was a team victory with everyone contributing.
We're ready for the next game (Thursday, October 17, vs XIS). Let's go Hawks!
‘Anything But a Backpack’ Day. On 18 October 2024, we will be holding an exciting "Anything But a Backpack" day as part of our House competition! Students are encouraged to get creative by bringing their school supplies in anything but a traditional backpack—think laundry baskets, toy wagons, pillowcases, or even a bucket! Each student who participates and wears their House shirt will earn a point for their House. We can't wait to see the fun and inventive ideas the students come up with for this spirited event!
